Policy: University Stationery and Business Cards

You should have an official connection with the University and be conducting official University business to use Stanford business cards and stationery.

Restricted Use of Stanford Business Cards and Stationery

Only individuals with an official connection to Stanford may use business cards, letterhead and other stationery items which contain the Stanford trademarks (“Stanford Stationery”). Stanford Stationery may only be used in connection with official University activities. Department permission should be obtained prior to ordering Stanford Stationery. All business cards must contain the individual’s official university position, title or other designation (such as student, PhD candidate, etc.).

 

Stanford Stationery may be used by the following individuals in connection with their official Stanford activities:

  • Professoriate (including Tenure Line, Non-tenure Line and Medical Center Line)
  • Academic Appointments in Centers and Institutes
  • Academic Staff
  • Postdoctoral Fellows and Postdoctoral Research Affiliates
  • Staff Employees
  • Regular Employees
  • Undergraduate and Graduate Students Enrolled in Degree Programs at Stanford

 

Stanford Stationery may not be used by the following individuals unless deemed necessary by their department head for their work at Stanford:

  • Individuals Holding Other Teaching Titles Specified in Administrative Guide 2.2.2
  • Visiting Scholars
  • Temporary Employees
  • Casual Employees
  • Contractors
  • Board Members
  • Volunteers
  • Alumni
  • Other Campus Visitors
